NEW YORK, NY, Sept. 13, 2018 – i(x) investments, a multi-strategy impact investing company, today announced that Christine Harada, former Chief Sustainability Officer of the United States, has joined the firm as President. The firm also announced that it has appointed Board Member Sarah Bloom Raskin, the former Deputy Secretary of the United States Treasury, to serve as Chair of the Board and that Paul Aaronson has joined the firm as Chief Operating Officer.
Harada brings over 20 years’ experience leading government and management consulting organizations. Most recently she was a partner at Ridge-Lane LP, a strategic advisory firm and merchant bank co-founded by former Pennsylvania Governor and Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge. Previously Harada served as Chief Sustainability Officer of the United States during the Obama administration where she was responsible for promoting environmental and energy sustainability across all federal government operations.
“More than ever, investors are considering the social impact of how they deploy capital,” Harada said. “I am excited to join a company committed to helping investors leverage their power in ways that address the world’s most challenging problems in scalable and sustainable ways.”
Raskin, an i(x) investments Board Member since August 2017, will now bring her exceptional experience to the role of Chair. From March 2014 through January 2017, Raskin served as the Deputy Secretary of the United States Department of Treasury. In addition to the broad range of policy, operational and organizational functions she oversaw and directed as second-in-command at Treasury, Raskin focused on bolstering the country’s critical financial infrastructure, creating conditions to foster inclusive economic growth and prosperity, and establishing consumer safeguards in the financial marketplace.
“I am honored to serve as Chair of the Board as we continue to scale our efforts and impact in areas like gender equality, renewable fuels and others where great need can be met with the power of capitalism,” said Raskin.
Aaronson joins i(x) as Chief Operating Officer to focus on efficient growth as the company scales its unique impact investing model. Aaronson was most recently a Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer of the equities group at Guggenheim Partners Investment Management. Previously he was CEO of a $3 billion hedge fund managed account platform and held executive roles at Standard & Poor’s and Morgan Stanley.
“We are excited to have Sarah officially lead our Board and to have Christine and Paul join our management team,” said i(x) investments Co-founder and CEO Trevor Neilson. “Their leadership and experience will play a crucial role as we build the world’s first institutional-scale impact investing platform that will enable investors to achieve both risk-adjusted market rate returns and positive social impact.”
